The Starehe Technical Training Institute is a part Starehe which deals with post Secondary education. The institute was established back in 1991 with the view to offering education opportunities to those who could not make it to the Public universities with government sponsorship and could not afford fees to take themselves further educationally.
At the beginning it was only Accountancy courses which were being offered, but with time the computer studies courses were introduced.
Through the years a number of examining bodies have been used to offer certification for both accountancy and computer studies courses. These include Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC), Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB), Kenya Institute of Management (KIM), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) faculty of CEP.
The institute currently offers a course in Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) from Section 1 to 4. It also offers a Diploma course in Information Technology. This course is examined by the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology and is sub-divided into five Stages after which one should take a three months internship.
Currently, the Starehe Technical institute admits Students from Starehe Boys' Centre. However, soon we shall consider admitting students from Outside Starehe.
